Meeting Comics News: Musical / Hell Hand / Rasslin / NOICE / Birthday
All here for you in this irregularly released email newsletter!
Hello, email newsletter pals.
MUSICAL
First up. Issue 22 of Meeting Comics has been out for a while now. This is Meeting Comics: The Musical for those of you keeping track.
NOICE
I debuted that issue at NOICE in Norfolk, VA, by the way. It was the first expo, con, or fest I have attended since NOICE 2020, just before the pandemic hit. It was fun, but I played things very safe and did not attend restaurants or afterparties or any of that, and drove up and got a hotel room solo, so I missed a lot of the socialization that makes these events truly great. It was still good though, and worth doing.
Here’s a photo of me with my tablemate Audra Stang, whose work I enjoy quite a bit. I grabbed this from the NOICE instagram account.
HELL HAND
I’m currently working on the cover to issue 23. The full name of the issue will be Meeting Comics #23: Hell Hand and Other Stories. There are five short stories in the comic. they are:
Hell Hand
Tina and Ellie’s Next Case
Val’s First Kiss
Substandard Parents
The Golden Clipper
It’s kind of a holiday issue. Hell Hand is the 2021 Halloween special. The story of Val’s First Kiss is told at the Thanksgiving table, and the story of the Golden Clipper is related at a New Year’s gathering.
I’m working on the cover now. There’s a lot of work to be done - drawing, design stuff, final lettering - but here’s a screenshot of where I am:
RASSLIN
I’m currently on page 9 of issue 24, which is wrestling themed. As usual, it’s being serialized at my patreon first. It’s a mere dollar a month for three pages a week (most weeks - I occasionally take a break).
Here’s a page!
BIRTHDAY
Today is my birthday, and what I want is for more people to read my comics. I posted a twitter thread to that effect right here. If you’re a twitter user who has followers you think would like my comics, please share it.
Meanwhile, I’ll post all the links from that thread here for you as well.
